A fully decked out race bike for a fraction of the cost

Over the years we have become known as the shop with the coolest eye candy and price tags to match. In actuality, most of our clients are just looking for the best return on their investment when it comes to their bike purchase.  This has been further reinforced since we brought in Giant at the start of 2018.  While we have sold a wide range of bikes from them, we really thought this bike best showed what we can offer from Giant. This TCR is a bike that punches way above its weight out of the box, that only gets better with Di2 and some other tweaks made to better dial in the bike for its owner.

While the bike came stock with Ultegra R8000 (mechanical/cable shifting), the client rode Di2 on another bike and fell in love with it. Since it was not offered with it from the factory, we upgraded the bike to electronic shifting ourselves.  The stock bar was swapped out for a Zipp Service Course SL-70 Ergo. It has been our go to handlebar for its great ergonomics at the hoods, drops and tops, as well as it being very stiff and light. Fizik 2mm Soft Touch bar tape provides great feel for what the bike is doing.  One of Fizik's new Aliante Open saddles sits atop the seatpost.

Clean Di2 Routing and a bit of Pro Tour team branding with the Shimano logo on the chainstay. The client opted for a medium rear derailleur cage (GS) to allow for up to 34t cassette for big climbing days. Right now an 11-30 mates to a 52/36 Ultegra R8000 Crankset.

Giant's in house SLR1 40mm deep Tubeless wheelset with Gavia AC1 tubeless tires come stock. The wheels come tubeless ready out of the box and include a tubeless valve and sealant.  40mm is the perfect all around depth for this part of the world.  Tubeless allows for lower pressures, less rolling resistance and less rotating mass. Plus you can always throw a tube in incase the sealant doesn't do the job in the case of a big puncture.

The TCR has a super beefy downtube and BB junction. Thin seat stays for compliance and stiff chainstays for great power transfer and precise handling. Giant also includes their Speed/Cadence sensor with all of their road bikes.

We have seen some less than stellar routing ideas over the past few years, but Giant has done it right. We use heatshrink to tidy up the front end and keep the Di2 wire and rear brake housing together before they split to their own ports.
